speedometer

So sometimes the speedometer needle shoots up when im at a slow creep. It happens every few days. From what I've been told that's a sign of the speedo going out. Is that right?

I'm having a similar issue while standing still.....speedo needle jumps up to 15-30mph and stays there until I start moving, then it reads as normal....still haven't figured it out...and I already tried swapping speedos.....

well all 4l60e transmissions have a speed sensor on the tailshaft housing. that could be going bad. i have even seen oil leak out the connector. they should have 2 wires out of that connector.
