Default 383 Build Thread with *Pics*

I just thought I would start a thread for the progression of my build it's a
1995 Z/28 Just your basic run a the mill camaro. So I dropped the drivetrain and had at it, I started by stroking the 4 bolt block to 385 with all the Callies fordged internals, and SRP Pro pistons, then I called up AI for a topend. We decided on going with their 215cc TFS heads with shafties and a solid roller cam and ported factory intake, trying to keep the comp around the high 11ish range so I could still put some pump gas in it, Oh yeah it's gonna have a plate shot of dope, Gonna start small and work my way up to a 200 shot max. The engine's going to be turning a TH350 with a Brake around a 4kto 4.5k stall
back to a Moser 12bolt final gearing will be selected after some test and tune. And it will have all the suspension goodies also k-member upper and lowers etc etc, I want to get the car into the 10's so it's on a Major Diet trying to get all the wieght out of it I can "Free Horsepower". I will keep posting pistures as I go along with the build. Here's a few pics of some of the parts that arrived so far for your viewing pleasure I'll post some up of the heads and shortblock later they are at the shop and I didn't have the camera with me so here goes, As I like to call it, Proformance ****

Opening the boxes the day your new toys arrive is one of my favorite. Good luck with your new setup, it looks like a good one.

You should be way quicker than 10s on a 200 shot. With the right suspension and lots of weight reduction

LOL... I still remember my wife being in tears when I was doing a head swap and she saw this:

... and said, "It'll never be the same..."
Granted the car was only a year old.

My wife actually likes to race the car sometimes. Granted she still does not understand why I modify it just like I don't understand why she has so many shoes.

She does enjoy the outcome from the modification though.

Good luck with the build, keep us posted with the results.

Here's some more pics of the short block and the heads. I don't know how Phil and Ron, feel about having picstures posted of the runner work so I just grab a few simple shots of the heads. I'm going to start assembly tomorow. after I go round up a couple of seal's and thread sealant. What kind of thread sealant are you guy's using on your car's

Black RTV is what I used, never had a problem with it.

I've always used grey RTV on the intake manifold and white thread sealent/loctite everywhere else applicable.

Black RTV is what I've used in the past for intake gaskets and such, I didn't know if something great and good had popped up lately for thread sealant, I guess I will just use the permatex thread sealer I've used in the past..
