temp. gauge sensor not working
I may have banged the sensor a little during the header install, so that may be why, but I don't know.
What do you guys think? Could it be sitting too far out of the block to get a reading?
EDIT 8.6.09
So today I replaced the ect sensor, and it still won't work. I checked for power to the connector and it's good. I also jumped the connector, and the gauge jumped to full hot, so I guess the cluster does work.
So why won't my gauge mark temps?
One other note: I did accidentally drop the new sensor (in its packaging, a plastic baggie). Could that have fucked it up?
I'm also looking at adding an aftermarket water temp gauge. I searched but so far haven't found were to connect the sender. Some have said to connect it on the TB bypass hose. Does that mean I have to do the TB bypass mod?

Another reason, which I doubt, is that I used teflon tape on the threads, instead of gasket maker.

And what threads did you use teflon tape on?
The treads on the sensor (where it screws into the head) is what I used teflon tape on.

Yes it's specifically for my 96 lt1. AC Delco straight from the dealer.
BUT>>>temp gauge is working now. Maybe I'm just dumb.
But my car is acting brutal, overheating and what not. Just replaced the thermostat earlier today. Either the fans aren't turning on or something worse.

What happened I think is that I didn't let the car run long enough once I switched the new thermostat.
I could not remember, but I could have sworn when you turn the key in the ON position that the gauge swept to let you know it's working.
Guess NOT. Stupid NOOB :s
