That depends. If you do a compression and leak down test and all checks out, then knock yourself out with the cam swap.
The CC503 hands down. That's the cam I have with stock heads. Works great. Let me know if you have any questions. I can tell you everything you need to know about swapping that cam in.

With that smaller cc503 cam it wont be totally necessary unless you jump up to bigger injectors. You can get a mail order tune for around $150 so why not

Can we just pop the cam (cc503) in or would you need to also put install new rocker arms, pushrods, springs, etc?

No, you would shatter your springs and drop valves and all sorts of carnage would happen.

At the very least you NEED better springs and hardened pushrods. You can use your stock rockers if you want, but if you are going this far don't skimp. The follow is what you WANT:

Comp Cams "CC503" Grind# 276HR-12 part# 07-503-8 $250
Comp Cams beehive springs part# 26918-16 $174
Comp Cams retainters part# 787-16 $50
Comp Cams valve locks part# 648-16 $23
Comp Cams Pro Mag 7/16" 1.6 rr's part# 1305-16 $290
ARP 7/16" rocker arm studs part# 134-7103 $38
TrickFlow guideplates part# 30400623-8 $16
TrickFlow 7.2" chromemoly pushrods part# 21407200 $87
Felpro replacement valve seals part# SS72861 $19

You can get all of the above from SummitRacing

LOL, no problem.
Don't forget that you will need a new timing cover gasket kit. I use the felpro kit that you can get at Autozone. Part# TCS45956 $14.
A new timing set is also recommended (order these from GMPartsDirect):
crank sprocket part# 10128346 $28
cam sprocket part# 10206039 '95-'97 part# 10128349 '93-'94 $35
chain pat# 10128485 $31

yes...

and you would need new valve springs. I would stay away from the Comp 915 or 918 bee hive.

Crane 10308-1 spring kit would be a drop in replacement and work very well with the 503 cam
