thats what i was referring to.

i wish i could do it all myself but i have never done any of it. my dad says he is almost certain he can do it because he has worked on cars forever.

only problem i have with doing it, with my dad and research i think i can do it, but if it messes up its on me, i cant blame anyone, and i have to fix it which costs more $.

Research goes a long way. I started reading CARTECH do-it-yourself books a long time ago. Online research and experience got me the rest of my knowledge. You have to start somewhere.
I remember when I used to take my car to shops and get raped for repairs. Came to find out that many general repair shops know very little to nothing about LT1's. One day I blew a head gasket and instead of bending over and paying the quoted 1400 bucks to replace both head gaskets, I figured I'd do it myself...took my time, researched, got the job done, car ran perfect, so I never went back to a shop again.

Trust me man..**** will break, even if installed correctly. Yea you could install something wrong and it break or mess up, but that's how you lean. Trust me I've spent hundreds learning the right way, that's just how it goes.

This stuff is simple..if it's broke just take it apart, find what's wrong and then fix it, and put it together properly. If you want to mod..know what you are installing and how to get to the part you have to take off and swap out, then make sure you have everything necessary to do the job. Researching on here will help you alot.. all of us gearheads that like to post up our stuff will help you.

As far as custom **** goes..once you learn how to do things and how things work then you can see how things can work if you tweak them..that's how you start getting into some nice custom mods.

This stuff really is simple..I tore down my T56 the other day to see what I broke. After an hour I had it totally dis-assembled. I was pretty much like WTF..that's it??..I got this..

Yea just get in there and do it. I had a dealership tell me it was going to cost me $800 buck to change my plugs and wires!! I always pay to have my cars fixed and hyped up but not anymore I did it myself.
Everyone said it would be a PITA and it was but when i was done it ran great and still does. Plus I learned alot jumping over and under that engine. I'll never pay to have my car fixed again unless I really really have too....plus theres nothing better then woking on cars with your old man =)

yup im waiting on his paypal

i felt that the best way to learn all of this would be to just jump in and do it, do tons of research and ask questions.

usually u find lots of support like this telling me its not that hard and the average guy can do it, but still some say if u havent done it dont do it. all i can say is, if i dont do it sometime i will always have to pay to have stuff done and ill never learn.

Exactly. Those that are saying that are the ones that are scared of getting their hands dirty. These cars are not that complex, once you understand everything it's crystal clear how these cars work.

find people in your area who own/owned the car you're interested in modding and become friends with them. the only thing better than research is having a helping hand from a guy who's been there, done that.

the only thing i have figured out for suspension is the moser 12 bolt.

how can i figure out what else is good for my setup? i see there is no sponsor for the suspension section or i would just contact them and see what they have to say.

look around for these 15-20% off deals BMR and UMI are having. byunspeed has sales on their suspension parts constantly. they are a sponsor

you dont need adjustable parts, you only need an adjustable panhard bar when you need to center the rear end (putting 17X11 rims or bigger). the torque arm is default at -1 pinion angle, but after owning a non adjustable UMI torque arm, i wouldve liked to have had an adjustable. the control arms can be non adjustable. relocation brackets for the control arms are a must if you get the arms.

you dont need a K member until you get into weight reduction, and if you hate the cramped room in the engine bay

honestly, i would browse the classifieds on here and buy your suspension parts way cheaper.

Definately go with the adjustable torque arm, get off of the tranny mounting. You can find the upper end brand names used for the lower end brand price new, the better piece(even used) is the the better piece.

is this gonna be a track car, street car, or just a toy? this will dictate the path you take mod-wise

mostly street car. i have never ran at the track, so at this point i will run once or twice just to see what the car can do.

however, if its really fun i might do it more often. though doing it over and over is not really something i should do. ill run around the same times, and if i lose races, ill just want to spend more $ to go faster lmao

i will have to keep a lookout for parts on here, though some of the stuff is kinda cheap so might just be better of buying new.

BMR Panhard Rod, Non-Adjustable $75

the shocks look like they are the most, 350-450 for koni double adjustable which i hear is best for lifting, landing, and pushing the power to the wheels.

Get the double-adjustable Panhard Bar from UMI Performance..I have it and it's a nice piece.
