Default 383 Feeler Thread

Well I was going to do a budget 383 with a Scat rotating assembly but I was poking aorund and found a Callies Racemaster for a good price. The crank is rated for 1000 horse so I want to build the rest of the bottom pretty stout. I am thinking of just getting some forged SRP pistons but my question is rods. What are the best 6 inch rods H beam rods for the money?

I had good luck with eagle h beam rods at ~900 crank hp, I'd look into a better piston though than the cheapo srp's!

manley rods here, oh i'd skip the shelf srp pistons. I've got some custom nitrous JEs, I'd be fine with some diamond or CP pistons though.

That is exactly what I am looking for...a trouble free 383, I think I am going with manley 6 in rods and JE pistons, the longevity is in the machine work though so hopefully my machinist is up to standard as well

It would have been a great idea had I not already purchased a crank so now I am trying to match parts but now I am torn between two sets of pistons

The Compstar rods are a little better at clearing the cam and the block especially. They have about .050 more clearance at the outer bolt to block than the Eagles and maybe .080-.100 more than the Scat H-Beams which are the worst for clearance and will hit the cam as well at the shoulder.

I like the Eagles for the money and the Compstars if you can spend a little more.
