i should mention that these parts have all been a running motor at one point...just disassembled to sell individually.

the main reason i haven't put the 396 together is the money factor. need a lot more things to make that work than just a cam swap. its a tough call at this point.

and my buddy has put a couple bottom ends together and says he has all faith in himself to be able to do it

Yeah, but does your buddy warranty his work?

haha...you have a valid point there. i mean it'd be awesome to throw the bottom end of a 396 together for parts cost, but i don'ot want it blowing up either

id say if your not completly ready to do the 396 then dont. just do this cam swap and over the next year put the rest of the needed 396 parts together. good heads and a good cam worked intake and all that. and if you bought the block and rotating *** used then your gonna want everything checked by a shop.

oh i agree...this mechanic buddy has a special deal with a machine shop and says a guy from there would be there to help out whenever. so that's a plus i suppose
