Question Header wrap

I was looking at some sleeves to protect my ignition leads and thought why not just wrap the headers instead?

I have looked at a few brands on Summit, but don't know if its worth it or if I should just sleeve the wires at the plug terminals.

What do you guys think?

I have heard that wrapping the headers is a nono because it provides a place for oils and other corrosive stuff to collect.

I choose to sleeve my plug wires at the plugs and I haven't burned a wire yet.

These are what I used. I actually found them at an Autozone, but most don't carry them.

Header wrap is a big no-no. It can collect oil and hastily become a fire hazard. Not to mention it will trap moisture and cause headers to rust out extremely fast.

I was looking at this sleeve, 3ft long so I can cut as much as I need.

I can wire tie them in place.

I wouldn't get that cheap heat wrap sleeve stuff. The Accel heat sleaves are thick fabric material. Much better quality and heat sheilding capability. Yeah it's pricey, but it works great for me.

Header wrap is a not a big no no if you seal the fiberglass with silicon spray like you are supposed to and don't run your car with your valve covers/fuel lines off I don 't see it really being a beg fire hazard. On the other hand it is one of the biggest pain in the *** jobs I have ever done. The heat wrap works ALOT better than any ceramic coating on the market for keeping underhood temps down and the heat in the pipes but I don't think I would do it again. If it was a daily driver that had the possibility to see any amount of rain I wouldn't have done it but it is a weekend cruiser and I live in the desert, no it is not for everyone it does work great

for the price of those ACCEL Pro Sleeve Boot Guards and any brand of regular plug wires...you could pick up a set of OTVC wires and not have any issue whatsoever with burning wires...just my .02.
