Default Lt1 ????

IM very new to this site and a LS guy but was told to go here from corvette forums, so basically im here now. The question is that my buddy has a Lt1 that is stock and is wondering if a set of stock ported heads will work on his engine with no problems. They are milled about .030", so will that work on a stock Lt1 or will the valves hit the piston?? What is the stock engine decked at any way, if anyone knows this? Could he possibly run a thicker gasket to achieve this? confusing to know this, as to which he does not want to buy these if he cant use them.

Thanks, all

ptv clearance has mosty to do with what size valves you use and how big the lift of a cam you choose

if your using a stock cam, stock size valve you will have no problems with clearance

duration is more important than lift in PTV clearance

my block is decked, heads milled, with a stock hg, -5cc pistons, and a 23x/24x cam just for reference

what is stock hg?
well its just a adv. ind. cam the little 226/234 cam and the engine is literally bone stock!

i am running 2.00/1.60 with a .570/.570 23x/23x
with a .026 head gasket and had no clearance problems

i believe stock hg thickness is .051

but is your block stock with stock type pistons?
how about are your heads milled .030"?
im just trying to figure out if these heads will exactly fit with no issue and not cause him to blow an engine and destroy $1000 heads and whatever else it may blow up!

.032 piston to head clearance on my engine

.027 gaskets, decked block pistons .005 in the hole, milled heads , 23x 23x cam with .61X lift on a 110 lsa and no piston to valve problems.

Put it together on the stand and clay the pistons and measure your ptv clearance.

I'd bet that setup will work tho

wont i have to use solid lifters so the lifter wont collapse while im turning the engine over by hand with the clay in between? Or can I just use the original lifters and topend kit already and check it?

I made a couple of solid lifters out of my old lifters and rotated it through by has a few dozen time IOT make sure that I had valve to head clearance

I gutted the lifters and used a bolt and nut under the lifter top IOT make a solid lifter (backed nut out to tighten lifter top a few thousandths below the retainer spring clip) then installed the push rods and rockers .
