Default front main seal

i found a 95 z28 for 2 grand has an oil pan leak and a front main leak... the parts are cheap, and labor will be free since i will be doing it with a few buddies, but is the camaro worth the $2000 i mean he sent me pictures and the car is pretty clean, just minor blemishes on driver seat, has a few aftermarket parts. intake exhaust and american racing rims(which will probably be for sale if i get the car). Do you guys think it would be worth it?

I think thats fair for a running, decent looking car. Good luck with the gasket replacement, I just finished with that myself.

The crank seal can easily be replace in an hour or so with the right tools and knowledge. Just make sure it is that and not the oil pan, which would be a more lengthy task.

imma try to talk him down at least 100 so i get money for the parts too! i should be getting this money next weekend ill keep you guys updated on the hunt for my new car but if i can take this one home i am more than happy. guy says the leak is noticeable if the car is sitting in one spot but not a real steady leak to where i have to worrying about constantly adding oil. without seeing the car how long do you think i can drive on a main seal leak? i would like to change out the water pump and radiator too if i get this one and since the radiator needs to come out to do the work i might as well do it all at once.

It's not really the "front main" as it has nothing to do with the main cap. It's just the crank seal.

The front main isn't too bad, I would pull the front of the oil pan too just so you can get the timing cover out. This way you don't break the oil pan gasket and spend another couple of hours getting that ho done.

its pretty clean. i got a email from the guy today. he doesnt want to budge on the price, thats alright tho 2 grand isnt bad for this. we had to rip the heatercore out my cousins z and my uncle broke the dash so if anyone has a dash or can lead us in the right direction to get one for pennies on the dollar let me know. pm on this thread whatever. we short on cash since he sayin his cash for the motor so as cheap as possible would be cool.

i just finished up the cousins cooling system.. his heater core was clogged like nothing ive seen before. we bought a new one but i cleared his out good so we returning the new one. we got a cleaner radiator from the junk yard of a firebird, and thats going cuz he wants to upgrade to fluidyne once he gets the motor built up. IDK WHAT I DID but this thing has more ***** now! we floored it from a dead stop at a light and it fishtailed on its own!! we had no traction up threw 2nd!

Start a new thread. this thread is over 3 years old.

Several possible points that these engines leak from in the back. One it the oil pressure sending unit, Another is the back seal of the intake, Yet another is that the oil is blown back there from the front and also the rear main seal or oil pan gasket.

Not only should you start a new thread but you should start a new thread in the correct forum. This is the LT1 forum.

This is happening with relative frequency nowadays. I must say I feel honored that people are mistaking their LS1 cars for LT1 cars. Woo!
