Arrow Aftermarket brakes

Since I am going to make the car go faster, it needs to stop faster too, and being as heavy as an F body is, I think even a stock one needs good brakes.

I am after this kit http://www.summitracing.com/parts/PW...T/?image=large

Actually, scratch that, its out of stock.

Its not easy finding LS1 brakes here, not even an LS1 in the junk yards. I have looked enough times.

I can buy brakes from Baer and pads from Hawk, http://www.summitracing.com/parts/BH...0/?image=large and http://www.summitracing.com/parts/HWK-HB217Z-681/

Although old school, I'm running an adapter to use C4 brakes. 13" rotors tend to pull this thing down. Did that back in the late 90's. Basically a cheap version of the Baer kit.

You can do C5 or C6 brake conversions now, which is even better.

Finding such parts at the scrap yards here is very difficult bro, out of 12 scrap yards, only 2 Camaros and both are LT1s. I could not find any Vettes either, I wanted one to pull the block to put into my ride.

And I just found out the Baer's are out of stock.

Are EBC brakes any good? Or should I just wait and get Baer?

Just changing the pads alone make a world of difference than the stock pads...

My stock rotors are cracked, and are in really bad shape. On a really hot day, I cannot brake well.

Now that I am modifying the car, I will need to stop a lot better.

I have opted for either the Hawk HPS http://www.summitracing.com/parts/HWK-HB217F-681/ or the ceramic pads I already posted a link for.

However, I just need to choose my rotors now.

There is mixed reports on rotors. Most after market brake companies claim that unless you purchase a quality rotor, the ones with drilled holes will eventually crack and the slotted ones are better. But yet most if not all rotors come with both slotted and drilled. Then again it is said that unless you are road racing you really do not need the vented rotors so??? But if yours are cracked I would go with the vented but maybe try to find ones that are slotted. Anyone out there would like to chime in on ever having any problems with cracking on the drilled rotors?? Maybe we need a poll on this or do a search. Might of been debated already...

Use Brembo blank rotors, ordered mine from Tirerack. Good choice on the Hawk HPS pads.

Do not buy those Baer Decelerotors.... I had a set, I cracked them. Thankfully they had a three year warranty, I got them swapped out and stuck them on ebay.
Drilled rotors more than likely will crack. I used to think nah I bought rotors from BAER, they won't crack, they were over $300 and from a well known brake company! Yeah they cracked.

Its been heavily debated. I don't track the car and won't, it will only see the 1/4 mile on test and tune night for some fun otherwise its just street driven.

I have powerslot slotted & dimpled rotors with hawk HP+ pads, don't be afraid of the HP+ pads they really don't make too much noise and when they do its barley audible over my exhaust, they do make more dust but I'm always washing my car anyways, but they bite hard and don't fade. the dimpled rotors are nice because you don't have to worry about cracking them and the dimple depth is the minimum rotor thickness so when they disappear you know its time to replace them. I think this my 4th year on this set up with the regular LT1 brakes up front and I noticed a huge improvement over stock and surprisingly haven't warped the fronts yet even after a HARD +165mph - 30mph stop last summer.

I don't care about noise, function comes first. They could scream like a girl being stuffed with an oak tree up the bum for all I care, as long as they work

But the HP Plus are more than what I need. I was looking at the ceramics as well. Powerslots are out of stock in Summit. Why is everything out of stock for LT1s? lol

Shipping is expensive to Bahrain

I think allot of LT1 owners have the modding bug this summer check out thunder racing, I think they have them in stock. and whos to say the HP+ pads are more than what you need, a deer ran out in front of the car ahead of me just last month on the highway and the only thing that kept me from smacking into that vehicle was the HP+ pads, I only had an inch or two, I don't know if camels are as crazy as deer but you never know.

I think I will go for EBC rotors with Hawk ceramic brakes.

Forget Thunder Racing, I sent them numerous e-mails asking about shipping quotes and other questions, and got no reply from them, its been over 2 weeks now. A colleague of mine has had some financial issues with them as well, so I think I will keep away from them.

The late ruler of this island used to own a lot of camels that had a special plot of land to roam. Luckily for us all, the plots were on either side of a main highway. And guess where their crossing was? Yea, you guessed it, right in the middle of the highway. No traffic lights to stop you or warning signs to tell you they are about to cross, just a sign on the side saying "CAMEL CROSSING". And I have seen those silly things just cross without a care in the world.

Thats Arabs for you

Another vote for Brembo blanks and Hawk HPS pads. Stops from 120+ mph are no problems.

I already made my order. I went for EBC dimpled and slotted rotors and ceramic Hawk pads.

I will upgrade the brake lines next month

Now, time to go work on my cam swap
