Question converting to vented opti Q

a freind of mine wants to convert to vented opti,, should we also change the camshaft TC sprocket to the '96-'97 sprocket or can we still keep the '94-'95 sprocket ?

here is a list of parts we already have:
- new vented opti
- opti vaccum harness
- '96-'97 TC cover
- TC gasket
- TC seals
this engine was recently rebuilt, and a LT1 camshaft with extended dowel pin was installed (cc305). are we missing anything here for the conversion ?

The MSD cap and rotor kit would be the easy way to do this. It adds a vent to the unvented opti.

true, but maybe they wanna keep it all GM parts.

other person, yes you will have to change the timing chain sprocket. The hole in the middle is bigger for the vented opti style. Since it doesnt actually use the sprocket for timing. Also, get a timing cover from a 95 LT1. That year was switched over to vented opti but it still didnt have the crank position sensor at the bottom. 96-97 did. otherwise you will have to cover the hole up. so its just easier to get a 95 cover.
