Default 93 question here

There is this kid that would like to trade me a car for his 93 trans am and now all of a sudden he wants to keep his engine. I dont why nor do I care, but the question is now would a 97 Lt1 block and necessary components work on his 93 ecm? Or is there anyway to adapt this all to work, will I need a obd2 pcm and complete harness for this? Or will it not work at all?
thanks guys

not to sure but i dont think that it will work... 93's had a bunch of different things compared to the 94+... 93 was speed density not MAF. your 97 has a crank and cam position sensor while the 93 doesnt. 97 has a vented opti, vs the 93 non vented...

dont think this makes a different but the 93 timing gear has a 16 spline input for the 93 opti...

but as you can see there are many differences between the 2

Hey:

As long as you use the 93 harness in the 93 car it works. It does not care which LT1/LT4 is in it, you just can't use the the 96/97 specific connections.

I have a complete 96 LT4 Gran Sport engine in my 93, when the conversion was done at the dealership, they used the 93 ECM/harness, tranny, throttle body, and headers that were on my car with a SLP/GMPP tuned chip. I now have a MADTUNER Chip. I have had no issues in 153,000 miles since. It still has the LT4 knock modules on, but only 1 hooked up and desensitized (May even be the original 93 module). The crank timing sensor is still in, but never hooked up, EGR!,Air!,EVAP! and fuel lines from a 94+. The only thing they had to do was remove the manual tranny bushing in the rear of the crank as I have an auto, and change from a flywheel to a flex plate.

I was deployed overseas when this job was completed and my wife said they had it done in 3 days and she drove the car the whole time I was gone, and it ran great, it still does over 10 yrs later. When I returned I stopped by the dealership and they said it was one of the best installs/upgrades they have ever had a chance to do, and wish all were that easy. They never had to swap anything except throttle bodys, fuel line, flexplate/flywheels and remove the rear crank bushing and it fired up first crank of the ignition. Good Luck on your swap, and hope it is as easy as this was and runs as well as this does too.
