Default No Defroster after A/C Firewall Delete

I deleted the A/C box from the firewall while doing head gaskets and put a plate over the hole, kept the vac line going to the dash for the check valve, but when I go to use the defroster/fan it will just make a weird spinning noise from behind the glove box....what gives? I was told and read several times that my defroster would still work. I need it in the winter, it's dangerous without it.

I have seen pics on here, you need to make a sheet metal piece and mount it in the heater box behind your block off plate to direct the air coming from the fan.

Yea, you need to cut that center section out and put something there so the Blower Motor can send air through the Heater Core.
