I just put my engine and trans in through the top yesterday with a happy hooker. It was pretty damn easy IMO.

took like 30 minutes after I realized I couldnt get it in with the alt relocation kit on ! Pulled it off and the balancer and it slid right in. Oh I also pulled the passenger side motor mount wich opened up tons of room to manuver the engine and trans into the drivers side motor mount.

thanx man,,but when i pulled it 'out the top' with the trans. all together by the happy hooker, it wasent that hard either. the only thing is unbolting stuff around the engine and removing the shortys was a PITA and time consuming

I have a happy hooker too, makes out the top much easier, but I still prefer dropping it out the bottom.

The happy hooker would make going out the top easier but I still think going out the bottom is the best!

Meh - I don't know how high the garage height is. Actually thinking about it, it definitely is taller than 7'. Don't know what the standard height is here in MI. Not tall enough for a lift though - and that's all that matters.
