Default Finally got some track times...

So I finally made it to the track for the first time since the cam kit install and I only got in four passes. All were within .1 of each other and all within 1.5mph of each other. I'm consistant but not impressed. What do you guys think. Track was about 80 degrees and about 600 feet pressure altitude.

60 ft - 2.1252

1/8 - 9.1@79.06

1000 - 11.64@91.39

The only mods I have are in my sig. I'm thinking about picking up a set of pacesetter and a lpe or k&n cai this weekend. I'm thinking those will help unlock some power I'm chocking up with the factory stuff still on it. Anyway, just let me know what you guys think. Are these pretty normal for a hotcam car?

For a "normal" hotcam car? No. You still have the factory air box? Get rid of that, get those Pacesetter LT's you mentioned and get rid of those gears in that 10 bolt. I had those low gears in my 94'. I stepped it up to a 3:73, and it was like a night/day difference, lol. A must need

no, not normal. You need headers and some better gears.

I went up to Centerville. Believe it or not I gave three mustangs black eyes but on my last pass I drove off with a sore butt to an LS1 car that ran a 9.7, lol. Although he did say I had a nice car though!

I ran faster than that (8.9's) when my car was bone stock and this was at a slow track in 90 degree weather. Kinda have your mods done *** backwards so by unchoking the cam with some LT's/CAI and by giving your car some gears that it desperately wants I would imagine a substantial increase. With all of that I would expect lower 13's and 12's all day long with a stall and tires.

Its funny cause I ran 11.7x's all day long when it was stock with 9.0 1/8th's. I'm thinking 3.42's for the rear end but only cause its driven about 30 miles a day at 70+.

Hmm maybe just a bad day at the track or something small wrong with the car?

3.42's would definetly be my choice. My old LT1 had 3.23's and I put alot of highway miles on the car and they were awesome for that. I put 3.73's in my current car and they are little much for me on the highway. Luckily I never drive the car on the highway otherwise I'd most definetly swap back to stock 3.23's or 3.42's.

Nothing wrong with the car that I can think of. Runs like a champ. Car doesn't really start pulling hard till after the finish. Shifts into third at the 1000 ft mark! Get into third gear and I think the car thinks its a jet, lol! But until then its still slugish.

My hotcam'd Z28 was also an auto with 2.73's, and would top out 2nd gear at 1320ft @106. 3.73's (what I went to) or 3.42's will def give your car some *****. Long tubes and something other than the factory intake will give those ***** some hair.

Gears and Headers..you are trying to push out too much through the stock manifolds and it's hurting you..expecially if your tune is setup for Headers.

its very hard to believe you are still running the stock airbox with a hotcam and catback. you will see noticeable gains with the CAI and headers

^The only thing I've done is put a K&N filter in the factory box with a 1LE elbow, delete the egr and air. Everything else has just been replacing. Its got a new opti, wires, plugs, ignition module, coil, water pump, 160 thermostat and that's it. Its a long story how the cam and rockers ended up in there but they are, lol! Now I just need everything else.

What kind of power gains can I expect from a set of pacesettes and a good cai?

Do a stall too along with the headers intake gears a set of tires you would run low 8s in the 1/8th or maybe faster!

By using the stock airbox, and stock exhaust manifolds on a cammed car, you're losing probably close to 40HP, maybe more.

Gears and a much higher stall (3500) will help you get the power where it needs to be.

on a cooler day that run prolly would get you 8.9's, but yea you need to unchoke that thing and get some 3.73's like everyone is suggesting. hell my buick in sig ran a crappy 9.1 on 2.12 60ft in the 1/8. It was upper 80's and humid too, track prep was poop. A good cai and full exhaust will net you some serious gains, I would not be suprised to see a 50hp increase. Cooler night with those mods and some gears and traction expect to see low 13's high 12's easily.

Did you have traction control on it you have it. It does help with it off.

My 02 Z28 A4 with 273s went 8.70@83.86 with 1.99 60 ft. Everything else stock My mods/times are in my sig..
