Where is your power peak? What size tire are you running?
just to give an example as to what hes talking about im running a 27" tall tire and going with 4.30 gears. it will be similar to running 4.10s with a 26" tall tire

I have 3.73's with a M6, and at 70 mph I am tacking 15-1600 rpms. I also get 20mpg around town and 28-30 on the highway. I thought with 4.10's that 1st gear is almost useless making the car a 5 speed. Can anyone elaborate.

see i like to know this too. I have 3.42s now and 6th gear feels like it studders until i am like at 70+ mphs. So i figured 4.10s would work great in my truck with the six spd. But knowing how short first gear is now, how is it with 4.10s? I mean if the 6th gear is such a dramatic change, that would mean that first gear must take a hit also.

i think w/ 2.73 my 1st gear would go up to 40 maybe 50mph. w/ 4.10 i think its like 20-25mph.

My A4 went from 3.23's to 3.73's with a 3600stall. NIGHT AND DAY difference! And I can cruise at 80mph at 3000rpms... Which isn't terrible in my opinion

imo w/ 4.10's and street tires its best to go from a 2nd gear 40 roll. your car will jump out like a monster w/ that low end tq and high gears as long as its a m6

Your sig shows a 93 TA so you should have a sixth gear ratio of .62
this would mean you have a 2.73 gear for 70 mph at 1600 rpm's.

If you have a 94 up T56 your sixth gear ratio would be .50
and a 3.42 gear will give you 70 mph at 1600 rpm's.

I have a sixth gear ratio of .50 and a 4.10 gear,At 70 mph I am at about 1900 rpm's.

Thats a question I have wondered about too. I went from 3.42 to 3.73, Huge seat of the pants difference.

I ran a set of Richmonds and had them Mikronited. The pinion ended up loosing up somehow and I chipped one tooth on the pinion. When I went back to the track with 3.42 instead of 4.10 I only lost 1 mph in trap speed.

I'm kinda glad I killed my 4.10 geared rear. While it was fun it was also quite interesting. I remember when I put my new motor in and got on it the first time, damn thing tried going sideways on a quick 2-3 shift. Granted I'm usually broke when I buy tires so its rolling on Riken Raptors, but still it was crazy.

I didn't notice a change in gas mileage. Still could drive over four hours on the interstate before stopping for gas, I probably just shifted earlier in town with them.

there was a huge difference. Changed the entire feeling of the car. Definetly worth it.
