Default Intro.

Well just wanted to introduce myself. My names Nick, i'm 22 and I'm an ASE certified master technician. Live in Jax FL. Finally after 3 years convinced my aunt to give me the camaro that belonged to my cousin who passed. It's my first V8 but def. not my first quick car. Previous to this i mostly had imports from 1st and 2nd gen eclipses to most recently an 07 Mazdaspeed 6 awd turbo. This camaro has 151k on the clock so it's time for it to be built to it's potential. Goal is 400+ hp I will post some pics asap. Car is in great shape, has 18" chromes that will be one of the 1st things to go. Also has some rodent wire damage from sitting for 3 years behind my aunts house.

Good luck with the build up. Keep us posted bro. What route are you planning to take to 400? H/C? Bolt-ons and nitrous? Forced induction?

I'm aiming for 400 hopefully all motor. As long as the block is still in good shape which it seems to be pull it and punch it to 355, make it a 4 bolt straight main caps.here is the route i want to go Sry it's alot, been plannin it out.

Scat all forged rotation assembly w/h-beam rods (includes clevite bearings and arp main studs)
TF-genX heads
Accel 32lb injector
TF intake elbow/intake
Port&polish stock intake mani
225 intank pump
Aeromotive FPR
B&m oil/tranny coolers
Mez. elec. h20 pump
jet T-stat (160*)
GM perf. HV oil pump
sealed pwr oil pickup
moroso oil pan
Ud alt pulley
ATI super dampner
ARP studs throughout
Compa Cam (still undecided which any suggesttions?)
ls7 lifters
MSD optispark (heard mixed reviews)
gm timing chain (gears if needed)
AIR EGR deletes
sealed power gasket set
pacesetter lt ceramic coated headers
pacesetter OR y-pipe
taylor cable plug wires
autolite XP plugs
Maf (haven't decided which)
energy susp. motor mounts
and pcmforless.com mail away tune

Rough guesstimate runs about 8750$. I'm really aiming for a bulletproof bottom end so if i don;t hit my mark i will be able to boost or spray without worry. However i have decided to take the route backwards and decided to start my build from the diff forward. Picked up a set of 342 gears going to just refresh the rearend w/new bearing and anything else that worn. c-clip eliminators. Panhard and LCA and torque arm, lightweight alum Driveshaft, then rebuild and beef up the 4l60e and shoot for a 3600 stall conv. Wow i wrote a novel. any suggestions or opinions are welcomed and appreciated.

Yea but it will all be in good time, I'm liking your mod list aswell What did you go with for your built trans? I'm going to do it myself but really cannot find any reviews. Hughes Performance makes a kit but i cannot find any horsepower ratings.

Probably a good idea to wait on a rear gear ratio until you know what kind of power you will be producing and at what rpm. Just a thought...

Your probably right. The car came with and LSD and 323's as per the gm VIS report. Also The gears i got were basically free so if i have to sell them to get the gears i need later i will. I trailered my buddies miata shell in exchange for the 342s, 2 gto 17" wheels that have been painted black, and a gto spare.

Welcome new lt1 member. Don't forget good springs, 1.6rr, hardend pushrods, and id suggest AI custom cam and gm opti.

We did not use a kit to do my trans. A good friend who is a very good transmission guy did the build mixed & matched parts from several sources. like corvette servos & truck tranny parts.

Yea the TF head come with 1.6RRs. The cam is still up in the air for me, I would love a custom cam from AI, but still undecided on the grind. I don't mind a choppy idle and with a 3600 stall i have lots to choose from. i'm fishin around trying to see what other people are runnin wit similar setups.

A good transmission man is worth his wieght in gold. I hope to be good enough to do what he did one day. Until then i will buy the kit (i hate being the guinea pig) and upgrade the servos while in there aswell. With an xtra capacity pan and cooler it should be decently reliable and plant the power.

Just an update: I'm Waiting for some $$$ to get this project underway. So I Called up Obama (IRS) yesterday, turns out my amended return to get my 8000$ for my 1st time home buyer program, will probably be another 30 days away. I'm livid. It's already been 9 weeks. Big business gets their bailout immediately, i'm stuck waiting 10+ weeks. It's F*d up. We have to file by the April 15th deadline to get our money that the gov't took and kept without paying us intrest and if we don't we get penalized! It's a twisted system. Makes my blood boil. As if any of the gov't agencies weren't slow enough, now that Obama is in office everything is MAJORLY delayed. I sent in for my concealed weapons liscense in Feb. it just came in last week! when i called a few months ago asking why its taking so long, the operators exact words "ever since Obama was elected we have recieved a record number of applications and cannot get caught up!" .... sorry thats my rant for today

Must be nice to have friends that give away parts like that for an empty miata to get towed

well if you want just an all motor 400rwhp, probably save some money on H-beams by opting for the I-beam rods, stay away from accell injectors (seem to be VERY hit or miss) just pick up some used Ford injectors they're dime a dozen and awesome quality, get some ported stock casting heads, don't worry about oil coolers, and look into a custom cam from Lloyd Elliot ( http://www.elliottsportworks.com ). one of his custom cams runs only $300 shipped vs an off the shelf comp cam for $260 + shipping.
