Default QA1 and rear gear change

First when changing out gears (Going with 3.73 GM gears) would you also replace the axles or should they be okay? My car shows 186xxx but i know it has more due to the odometer not working for previous owner for a year.

Second what springs are you all running with the 300 rating QA1's? i will be running a 325/50/15? I want to have a really good lowered stance. This car will have some road time on it as well. So this will be a street/strip car.

Any advice will be appreciated.

No real need, but they would be a nice upgrade.

Don't waste your money. I have broken six (yes, six) 10 bolts since I bought my car back in 1999, not once have I ever broke a stock axle. The ring gear or the carrier will snap well before the axle shafts will.

okay sounds good. Im pulling the rear out to weld up the axle tubes and but in the new gears and ARP studs. Didnt know to much on the actual axles themselves though. I priced everything that i needed including the axles for under $800 and figured i would ask everyone else before i placed the order.

As far as the rear springs, no one has any ideas? also i have been told to run the factory ones and just cut them down for desired ride height. I have two problems with that.

1. my factory ones are shot. I have the spring (screw in) helpers that go between the coils to keep the car from bottoming out. This was done back before i started moding the car.
2. i used to be into lowered/bagged and lifted trucks. I have built/owned many before getting back into hot rods. I have done the cheap way of cutting the springs and the ride was always shitty. The springs are rated with the full spring so by cutting them it loses some of it spring rating causing it to not function properly.

So with this being said the cutting of the stock spring is out. i am looking for a replacement of equal quality and drivablity to the QA1 front package i will be running. I will be running the single adjustable (for now) with the 300 rating.
