Default Dowel pin help

i have a 1995 z28...i was takeing off my opti because it started misfiring and i noticed that the dowel pin was broken ... there is still a little peace there but i does not even come cloes to the opti to spin it ..what do i do to fix it..... i was thinking of welding a little peace of metal so i will spin the opti can some one give me some advice

is it a vented opti?
u dont need a long dowel pin for a non-vented opti, as long as the dowel pin gets throgh the cam sprocket, it should be fine,,,someone correct me if im wrong

'95 had vented optis. you are correct in your statement, but he will need the dowel pin

You are going to need to get that dowel pin out and replace it.

x2 not the biggest wear part on the car.

If it helps i used an old really heavy duty drill chuck to get the pin out of my cam.

I dont know how it broke...i had the car for 7 months and have been driving the car like that ...it had a back fire and miss but that was it so i decided replace the opti becaus i had already relpaced the pulgs, wires and coil....when i took the opti off i saw the pin was broken it surprised me that the car was runing and the rotor was just lose in the cap the 2 screws had came off....yea its vented ...the guy i got it from told me its a lt4 hot cam i dont know if that makes a diff...but i tryed knocking it in so i can replace it but it does not move so know im drilling it out
