Default fixing to start build need some opions

i have decided to go with a 355 for now will the stock crank be worth reusing or should i just by a new one and go to a 383. it will be a weekend warrior and driven on the street but im going to spray it so i know at least im goin with a good set of forged piston. will stock rods be ok or should i upgrade im tryin to do this on a budget but if it want hold together with the stock crank and rods sprayin ill jus wait and save up for a forged rotating assembly. but i have heard that a 355 last a lot longer than a 383 is this true? i would love a 383 but if a 355 will make good power on spray that what i will do appreciate the help

stock crank is an awesome piece but depends if the stock crank is still alright. stock rods with arp bolts should be fine depending on the application.

not sure on 355's lasting longer, haven't heard that one before

i haven't either till the other day a guy that does a lot of work on older camaro's came in to autozone where i work and said with the cutting of the block on a 383 and the stroke that a 355 will be tougher and last longer between rebuilds i plann on sprayin at least 150 so will stock rods and arp bolts be suitable for that amount of nitrous whats about the limit to stock crank an rods with all arp hardware

I'm in the same boat as you.. Deciding between a 355 or 383.. I'm leaning towards the 383.. Only because down the road I'll be fully built/forged in the bottom end and can upgrade to some super fancy heads over just stock ported lt1 heads..

In my findings, the stock crank people will say is good to 600-900hp. Which is enough for what most people want. Thats more then my goal... For now that is... Hence the 383 because speed is addicting.
