Default Vibration problems

For some reason when i am driving the car down the interstate at 75 mph, the car shakes so bad that it has actually broke 5 exhaust welds... but if u drive at 73 or at 90+ it goes away. also if ur at 75 and r under acceleration, the vibration goes away, but if u let off the gas it vibrates even worse, and if u try to hold a steady speed it sometimes goes away... does anyone know what could be causing this? i just installed a 9in a couple weeks ago and the car vibrated a little before, but now its redicouls...

did you replace the driveshaft when you put the 9in in? The stock shaft fits but is actually too short and can cause the vibration. I had this problem, ordered a new DS from Dennys and no more vibration.

Actually you feel the tires out of balance approx 60+ mph not at all speeds.

There is no specific speed that you'd feel wheels/tires out of balance in all cases. It depends on tons of factors that boil down the the resonant frequency as the wheels go around.

1. could be your ds out of balance which is doubtful considering you had this ds in your old setup, BBBBUUUUTTTT the stock steel driveshafts for the lt1 cars are very rarely ever balanced right from factory...
2. universal joint could be junk, which i would take the ds off and check anyways and put it a new one on just for ***** and giggle on your current ds or a future new alum one because if the ds flys off due to a bad ujoint its gonna **** up a lot of **** and you are gonna be pissed
3. unlikely but tires could be unbalnced

I had the same exact issue with my 94 Z28 when I installed 3:73 gears, apparently the machine shop failed to balance my driveshaft after installing the gears. They balanced it for me and I was good to go! I beleive it's the DS for sure from the sounds of your problem.

I'm thinking the ds is too short. It sticks out much farther and has a little play now...I'll check it out and let you all kno how it goes. Thanks again!
