Default $1500 for engine mods

What would you do? DD but never driven more than 20 miles per day.

You already have:

-Headers
-CAI
-3.73
-Spec Stage 2 clutch
-Freshly maintained

I've found a couple supercharger kits in that price area, but I also see that LE1 heads/cam combo isn't even that much.

PS- breaking a 10 bolt won't hurt my feelings

LE1 heads / cam for 1200

300 left over for gaskets and incidentals.

That's what I'd do

I agree with gregrob, but the final bill will come in over 1500.

-head gasket/timing cover basket/ possibly oil pan gasket as well
-pushrods
-rockers
-TB?
-tune

You guys need to read. He already HAS headers and cai! Lol

And a tb should be low on the totem pole. Not very much gain to be had there until youre pushing 450+ it seems.

Please don't try to go FI for that tiny amount. You would be much better served going h/c as suggested. Do the lifters (LS7) and pushrods (chromoly) while you are in there.

I would do a decent sized cam with a good valvetrain setup, it will run a little over $1000 and with a good dyno tune probably almost $1500. If you can't go bigger heads I'd wait. The LE1 setup is great, but for the money I'd save and do atleast an LE2...

Clearly, the OP can do as he wishes. AFA a visual inspection, bear in mind that a lifter is a hydraulic pump type device. The pump mechanism is internal to the lifter. I am not sure how a visual inspection would help.
Depending on the mileage of the current engine build IMHO it is cheap insurance. But that's just me.

Free tuning, eh. Point the way, please.
Tunercat and definition file - $90
Cable - $60-120
Datamaster - $95 (list is $120)
These numbers are fresh in my mind, since I am in the process of converting to OBDI. I selected a $75 cable, so I spent $260. Still cheaper than any OBDII solution out there.

I would save up a little more $$$ and go with AI's 200cc heads and a streetable camshaft.

I would do a H/C. You've already done just about everything else without needing to pull apart the bottom end. I know people have supercharged stock bottom ends but if you need, or want reliability you need to build up everything else. That and when you do sc it you can reuse the heads and cam your about to get, lol.

What Supercharger kits are avail in the $1500 range?? I have never seen one myself in that range nor would I think it would worth a damn. Go with heads/cam.

I agree, get a LE2 package and just buy the rest of the stuff pc by pc untill you have everything then install it all. If 1500 is all you ever plan to spend do a nice cam, valvetrain and N20

Used kits go for around that much. I'll have a little more than $1500 to play with, but I need the "just-in-case" money for any extras I don't think about.

I've been FI for 4+ years, and trust me, $1500 won't get you going, even for a used kit. Go to the FI section and read the stickies, especially the true cost of FI. You would not be happy with a $1500 kit, even if it did run.

There is a thread below about a le1 heads/cc306 cam setup that put down 403whp thru a 9". That is better numbers than some le2 setups.
