Default New Build Questions

Been going over a couple different setup's and I was wondering if these pistons/rods would work with the stock crank. And what you think about them. I will be spinning it up to 7000rpm Custom cam and AI heads. All the usually supporting mods th350 5000rpm stall in a 2900lbs car. Goal is mid 10's Let me know what you think.

hopefully you aren't planning on mid 10's at your track lol

looks like that combo will work, any REAL specs on the pistons? like valve reliefs, compression height, etc?

4 Valve relief
Piston Material Forged aluminum
Compression Distance (in) 1.265 in.
Piston Head Volume (cc) +6.40cc
Wrist Pin Style Press-fit or floating
Pin Diameter (in) 0.927 in.
Piston Ring Thickness 5/64 in. x 5/64 in. x 3/16 in.
Piston/Pin weight = 487/132g

I am down at sea level right now so that should help out. I am going to see what I can get out of it on motor then start spraying till I get my goal. On my last combo I did a 12.1 pass no nitrous stock heads. So with the new shortblock new cam, stall freshened up tranny and more weight reduction should be pretty good.

I'd look into a higher compression piston honestly, no reason not to. I imagine that piston's somewhere around stock SCR

Well with my 52cc heads and .027 headgasket the calculator said my CR is 12.8:1. Does that sound about right? Do you think I should go for more compression?

Ok I ended up getting some JE Pistons forged flattop 2 valve release. Now I just need to know for my setup should I go H beam rods or I beam? I plan to spray a 200 shot later on down the line I was looking at the Ohio Crank H beams or Eagle. Would it be worth it to go to H beams or would I beams be enough for me?


If I beams are good enough any one have any suggestions. This is one of the last things I need to get to start my build. Thanks for the help.
