What do you guys think of 4.56's in a 1995 Z28 A4....in all my mustangs(yes I've come to the Darkside
) I've ran 4.10's or better I love the in the seat feeling.....but as im new to these cars what will the top speed be....Its basically stock now I'm gonna throw some nitrous on it and see how she runs

From what I gather, the M6 cars like a 4.10 for an all around gear. The auto guys run 3.73s. Which is a decent jump from the stock gearing available with the autos. I would think a 4.56 would be a little too much gear for the auto. Traction will probably dissapear. Which might not be a bad thing if your into that.
Top speed.. I have no idea. I think they are suppose to top out at 153 or something without the speed limiter. I've never been anywhere to do it safely in my car.

4.56 is just too tall of a gear for an A4 unless its a track only car and ur running a ridiculously tall tire and/or spinning the motor to the moon!
even 4.10's is pretty tall if ur gonna stick with a 26" tire.

4.10s or higher in an auto would be rediculous, especially if you ever drove it on the road...on the highway you'd be sitting at like 3000+ rpm destroying your gas mileage and ears if your exhaust is any kind of loud...
people tend to do 3.73's in autos, 4.10's in manuals...and there's a reason for it...

So 3.73's then.....are they good in these cars from a roll....I rarely get the dig runs anymore...or should I just go 4.10's for roll racing?
My original Plans were 3.73's 3600 stall and 150 shot....but as I havent even driven this car for more than 9 miles and haven't really gotten on it I was looking for input from experienced F-Body owners

Mustangs need those gears desperately. I've driven them, they are turds without 4.10's+ lol.
4.56's would not be a good idea, I'm assuming you don't know what shift extension is. The shift extension is the difference between the rpm's that the car shifts at and where the rpm's fall to after the shift. Gearing and stall size alter this greatly. For example my car shifts at 6400rpm and drops to 5400rpm after the shift therefore a 1000rpm shift extension. For an N/A car you want to have ~1000rpm extension for maximum performance and yes there is negative effects if the extension is too tight. With 4.56's your shift extension would more than likely be too tight for spray. Nitrous will only make that extension closer so 4.56's and nitrous + stall equals a problem (which is why you see guys running smaller stalls that have spray than they would if they were N/A). I would stick with 3.73's, shouldn't have any issues with that and spray. Also, 3.73's are annoying enough on the highway IMO.
Hope that sort of helps.

So your going to say a 6-speed with 3.42's will drop down to the same rpm after a shift as does the same car with say 4.10's? With shorter gears you are more in your powerband after the shifts.
