Default Powdercoating

Does anyone know if the PCM case on a LT1 F-body can be dis-assembled ? I want to clean up the rough edges and have the PCM halves black powdercoated, if possible. If so, is there anyone in particular that is recommended on this board?

Thanks

if a composite ls1 intake can be powercoated then then the pcm should be cake. i took one of mine apart, cleaned it all off with a wire wheel and put about 5 coats of high temp black on it and looks great. all it cost me was a $5 rattle can from advance auto. i can take some pics for you if you like.

Thanks, I was not sure if the case could be dis-assembled. If you want to post a pic or two that would be cool.

ok ill put one or two in this afternoon. BTW those bolts/screws holding the case together are VERY fragile and might be a bit seized if they had been exposed to a lot of moisture.

You'll need 2 star (Torx) wrenches/sockets. The 6 case screws use TX25 (leave the cover for the Knock sensor on the case). Then crack the case and remove the 2 circuit boards using a TX15 (IIRC, my case is together at the moment) and the rubber cushions. You now have 2 halves of the cover to do with as you wish.
Not sure that I would powdercoat them, b/c there is a seal around the perimeter that would have to be replaced after baking.

Okay, I might just have the cases cleaned up and de-burred on the fins and then apply some primer and two coats of paint.
