Default rear caliper

Im in need to either rebuild or replace my rear calipers looking at rock auto they offer many different rebuild kits as well as new calipers. i have recieved the part number for orilies rebuild kit but i dont like it plus they dont have a store where i am so rock auto is my best bet, would someone mind going on there and telling me which one is best either rebuild or new caliper. reason for this is my rear passenger locked up and is just burning the pad as i drive.

If it is completely locked up, you might want to consider getting the whole caliper. A rebuild kit might not be able to take care of it (depending on just what is wrong). If you find the rebuild kit does not fix it, then you have just wasted your money on it.

well it does not "feel" locked up, however before i put it down for the motor and trans rebuild i noticed a large build up of dust on my rear pass rim, i cleaned it off and drove it to another location where it was again caked in dust, again it did not feel to be draging or sluggish as if the break was applied. this is the basis of my question i suppose, which is better to get and if so a part number or a location to aquire it would be good. i chose rock auto bc ive bought from them in the past and liked them and saw they had a number of both rebuild kits and new calipers for decent prices

A rule of thumb is while the wheel is in the air it should be able to free spin at least two revolutions. Of course it's going to vary depending on how hard you spin it, but if you feel a fairly strong resistance then the caliper may need to be replaced. Are the boots in tact on the caliper pistons?
I don't think you can actually buy a brand new caliper anymore. I think they are all pretty much rebuilds.

i havnt had the rear end in the air or the wheel off to look yet, im focused more on the motor, but the motor is nearing completion and i need to start working on this, i know it needs either a rebuild or a new one (rebuilt) one just wondering if its worth trying to do or just put a already done one on. time for me to work on it currently is very short so im just considering geting a new caliper, which is another question if so is it best to replace both sides or just the one not functioning.

Only replace the one that is sticking if there is indeed only one.

Your better off buying a rebuilt one, I have taken one apart before and the piston was all pitted, like shbox says, you buy a kit, find this out and you've wasted money towards a new one..
