I'm in the middle of doing a rebuild on my 1993 LT1. I am told it has the early forged connecting rods, not the PM ones that came in 1994 and later LT1s. Does anyone have any experience with how strong the forged 93 rods are? Just wondering how they compare to other forged rods?

They were the "strong" factory rod from the early 70s up till the PM rods were introduced.
Well prepared they are a decent rod BUT for not a lot more than you would spend to have them rebuilt and prepped for strength you can get some Scat capscrew rods and be a little further ahead. Maybe even go with a longer rod for a lighter piston.

I just don't want something that will make a big mess down the road. I'll price out the Scats and see if it's worth the insurance. Thanks.
