BTW, you reused the stock crank if I remember correctly right?
Its a stock crank, but my original complete short is wrapped up in the bedroom now waiting for the day I blow up the current one or start a stroker motor.
Now my complete engine cost alot more than 700. That was just the short that I got a killer deal on. I dont even want to think about totals Ive spent.

I had $750 in machine work including boring, honing with deck plates, deck the block, balance the rotating assembly and cleaning. That also included the oil pump and pickup.

$200 for Scat forged rods
$500 for SRP forged pistons
$2000 for the headwork and the custom cam
$700 for rockers, lifters and pushrods

$4150 total, not including bearings, rings, bolts or gaskets

I assembled everything myself. I did let the machine shop install the cam bearings.

If you assemble it yourself, take your time. The book "Rebuilding the LT1" helped a lot! Make sure your work area is very clean.

Good luck on your decision!

Mine set me back a smidge under 14K. As said before, it can get expensive fast.

If i do the work myself, i will have to get extra parts because the engine is in my daily driver. But spending like $1000 on a block, heads(then porting them) and whatever else so i can save $2000-3000 on labor would be better. but i still have to get machine work done ugg

this is funny because when I told people on another camaro board how much it cost me they all laughed and told me I got hosed. I didn't quite get where they came up with that, but now after reading this thread it seems what it cost me is about right. Sure I could have got it done for half the cost.....if I was lucky enough to have access to a lot of things, people, and knowledge that most don't and neither did I then.
