Default Questions about future mods

I would like to build a forged block topped with my LE2 heads, and procharge it. So here are my questions:

1) I would like to go FI with a D1SC, on my heads what is the largest displacement I should consider. Right now I'm thinking 355.

2) I will be replacing my rockers in the very near future, I want to go with 1.6 nsa on a 7/16 stud.
a) Can the new larger studs be swapped right in, or must I remove the heads and drill and tap the holes?
b) What do I need to know, or do, to go with nsa rockers?

Thanks all -Chris

You can install the studs and guideplates with the heads in the car, there is no drilling and tapping. As for your head displacement question, it sounds like you might be a little mixed up, there are too many variables, you need the decide on a target compression ratio and then adjust your piston dish volume and combustion chamber CC accordingly. Are you going to replace the heads with aftermarket castings or are you going to use stock castings?

I worded that wrong, I'm wondering what is the largest displacement block my heads will work well with in a FI application.

displacement doesn't dictate compression so if you want to stick with your heads, I am assumung they are somewhere in between 52cc and 56cc, but you need to know exactly how large they are so you can buy dished pistons to get the compression ratio you want. Any displacement will work for FI as long as it is built for it.

Dude... your not understanding me. I am not asking anything about the compresion ratio. I will figure that out on my own once I decide on a CUBIC INCH DISPLACEMENT for the FI block, which is what I am asking for help with. I dont want to buy new heads, and there is no point in paying for the machine work and bigger crank to make a 408 if my heads cant flow enough to support the larger cubes.

So with all of this clarification, does anyone have any input?

Truth be told, your heads will work fine with a 350, 355, 383, or 396. For the cost though, I'd stick with a 383.

Aftermarket 7/16" studs use the same bolt holes the stock studs do - no tapping necessary.

You will need new hardened 7.20" pushrods and hardened guideplates as well.

studs will swap right in, as far as the heads go, they should be good for whatever displacement you wanna go with. one thing though, if you plan on going with a procharged stroker, you might want to consider going with the le3 heads instead, or porting the le2's out a bit more for better flow. not entirely necessary but it would be a noticeable gain

So I need guide plates in order to run nsa rockers?

Yes. That's how the pushrod is aligned on a NSA setup.
