Default oil pan gasket

my 383 eagle cast crank broke (piece of ****)

and so now i have the motor out and i want to make damn sure the stupid oil pan gasket doesn't leak like hell as it did before. i was running the fel pro oil pan gasket, i have a 7 qt moroso deep sump pan. moroso just told me i should use the factory gasket. any opinions on this i really dont want it to leak anymore.
thanks

Ironically enough, that spot is where most Eagle cast crank failures happen.

As far as the oil pan gasket is concerned, I used the Felpro, dry. Just make sure both mating surfaces are CLEAN and you won't have any issues. Some people opt for RTV though in addition to the gasket.

Stock gasket with RTV in the corners by the TC and the RMS.

What were the circumstances to your crank breaking? Not to say it doesn't happen, but I've never seen a crank break on it's own before. It was always a rod/piston issue that broke and took other stuff out with it.

I used a felpro gasket and gm sealer in the corners and the semi circle at the front, no leaks at all. I can't tell from your picture but it looks like there is rtv all over the gasket. That may be the problem, the sealer only needs to be at joints that may not conform when torqued.

I used a Fel-pro gasket with RTV black, and no leaks. Stock pan though.

the circumstances of the crank breaking were this, manufacturer defect. ive seen about 10 cases just by googling it. eagle will not replace after 1 year even tho the crank has about 6-7,000 miles on it. i felt a little extra vibration in the shifter for a couple weeks, then one day i was just easily pulling out of a gas station into stopped traffic and then i felt it break and it ran like complete ****, then i knew something was really really wrong.

there IS rtv all over the gasket, when the motor was first installed (complete fresh motor) the gasket pissed oil. then the gasket was redone by the chevrolet dealership 2 times, still would leak under load. with fel pro gasket.
