Understandable on a setup like yours. although a mailorder should be fine in a cc503 setup.

Most mailorder companies such as madtuner and pcm for less do a great job on tuning bolt-on/ mild cam setups. When you switch to a big sr cam, single plane intake, converted heads, then yes, you need a full hands on/ dynotune or even a ems like a dfi 7. op I would get a mail order from pcm for less for a base, then tweak it in yourself.

was not on my car, either one..... one was a 503 cam and the other is a very similar cam but a custom grind.

Jeff Creech does mail order tunes..... and if you use him to dyno tune he puts the money you spent as a down payment so its a good deal and jeff is a good tuner.

I suggest Ed Wright, IMO he was worth every dollar. A great tuner with outstanding customer support......

I started with a different mail-order tuner and moved on to Ed and never looked back.

Does Ed Wright still put a lock on his tunes?
Ive had PCm For less do 2 of mine back in the day. A couple of my buddies as well. all were pretty good. One of my freinds actually had Brian tune it. Drove it a few weeks and went to a dyno day with a couple of tuners there. They picked up like 5 RWHP. Pretty good for a mail order if you ask me.
BTw all of ours was when they were stock or mildly ported heads and shelf cams.

I don't see a 503 picking up 50rwhp from NO TUNE to a tune.

Ed doesnt lock his stuff anymore. He hasn't done that for a while. I've had great luck with him.

On the other hand, I haven't had any good luck Jeff C, when I got a tune from him a couple yrs ago. Just my experience.

Remember, a mail order tune is only as good as the data the tuner received, and wether or not your car is free of gremlins, ie exhaust leaks, valvetrain not adjusted right, ignition problems etc etc.

Interesting thread this has become, lots of great feedback.

But I am surprised no one mentioned Trifecta?

13.8 wot, 15 cruise....with a proper dyno tune the car picked up 28hp and 4mph at the track
