header bolt question

Default header bolt question

i bought a set of jet hot long tube headers from a member here on ls1tech. he did not have the header bolts that came with them. do i need to get a hold of jet hot for their certain header bolts or can i get them at a local store or do i have to order them online?

The bolts just need to have a thread that is the correct size to mate with the cylinder heads. They will be the same as the stockers, but you will need ones with much smaller heads. The stock are a 9/16 head, impossible to bolt up on headers.

Try to get grade 8 bolts with small heads, or allen key heads (for those really tight places). Make sure you apply anti-seize to the threads, apply enough to fill up the threads only.

Personally I would use the ARP header stud kit #100-1412 and you shouldn't have any issues.

Any standard 1" SBC header bolt will work fine. I used 1" ARP stainless.

Thats a better kit than the stainless steels which come with 12 point nuts and are quite difficult to fasten without the proper wrench. I made the mistake of getting them, and thankfully I have an ultra thin double box end wrench from Snap-on just for such occasion.

The studs are great for easier alignment, header flange will get right on.
