Just get a lt1 k-member - motormounts will bolt up. You will need to cut/modify the cowling a bunch to get a distributor to fit back there, and it's going to be tight. You will also have to deal with getting the gauges working if you rip out the computer control - can be done, or you can just swap to different gauges, just will require time/money/knowledge.

Probably would be easier to just buy a lt1/ls1 vehicle.

I did the same thing to my 95 v6.
First and foremost is the motor mount. THE SBC WILL NOT JUST BOLT UP TO AN LT1 CROSS MEMBER!!!!! The mounting location for the bracket is further back. I got custom brackets made for my swap.

Second the cowl. Not that big of a deal however yuo have to remove a lot of material. You have to put the engine in with the distributer on the engine but you have to put the cap on after that. That is a B@#$%.

Obvisouly you will need a new tranny.

then came th cooling issue. The motor liked to overheat. The radiator sits higher that the waterpump. I probably could have fixed this but.....

BUY A LT1 w/ tranny and put it in instead.

See my other thread Computer Problems.

Hope this helped.

What block did you use? I have seen a 400sb bolted up to lt1 motor mounts (the brackets on the k-member)?
