Good deal, and a lot cheaper than trying to get hands on a LT4 intake...

Well, glad you found someone who could help you make it right.

No offense to anyone here please but advising someone to bolt an LT1 intake on LT4 heads and "See what happens" is a little ...hmmmmm....a little...hmmmmm....let's say not right.

The LT4 intake has higher ports 0.10" (2.5mm) than LT1 and it's not a good idea to just bolt an LT1 intake on LT4 heads, your engine will start and car is going to run and you can make the trips to wallmart and to sears and to best buy with "no problem" , but question is if you want to do it right or if you want to cut corners. In 99% of the cases if you cut corners you will end up doing the job twice to make it right, so do it right the first time (Which you are).

The LT1 heads has 212 CFM flow while the LT4 heads (If it REALLY what you have) has
240 CFM flow (Higher ports), just do it right and have the intake you have MATCH the heads and save yourself headache.

A LOT of people bought intakes painted red like the real LT4s and they were told they are real LT4 intakes (Happened to help a friend not fall into that lie by comparing it to the real GM LT4 intake I have in my shop), many on ebay and some on this site as well, not saying your friend doesn't have an LT4 intake but it's very easy to find out. Painted red doesn't mean it's an LT4. I'd hate to see you convince him swap intakes only to find out that his intake was JUST painted red and shiny..

Good luck and let us know if you need any more help.

Wow, I didn't know bolting on an intake to see if it would work meant not checking anything before the vehicle started. LO ******* L. If you don't have enough sense to double check and make sure something works before you go tearing off around the neighborhood then a Darwin award is certainly in your future. I don't know who posted to "Bolt on an LT1 intake and see what happens" because I can't find it in this thread? I love the internet.

Internally the LT1 and LT4 intakes are identical. The difference in the ports is on the heads, not the intake.

To the OP. Sounds like you have a good plan and getting a new tool (toy) out of the project is always a plus. I loved my LT4s, both stock and when I had them extremely worked by GTP. Good luck,

Larry

No what is a problem is folks to spout incorrect information.

http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k5...1/DCP_1456.jpg

GIZMO posted that some time ago and ignorant folks like yourself just love to blindly ignore it.
The floor of the ports is the SAME height, the LT4 head ports are just TALLER.
The LT4 intake is internally the same as the later LT1 intakes.

So the only concern is sealing, long as the top of the port seals with an LT1 intake you are fine.

The real advantage to an LT4 intake is room to port match to the taller ports.
