Default Jumping a ob2 port

Hey guys my firebird finally threw a code. So I am trying to find out if there is anyway you can get the pcm to show you code by flashing the check engine light. I know you can do it for ob1 but can you do it for ob2. Or am I going to be buying a reader?

As far as I know the jumper method to retrieve codes went away with OBD1 so now you have to buy a reader.

Can't be done by anything other than a reader, scanner or logging software.

Many auto parts stores will read your code for you. It is up to you, however, to figure out what it really means.

Just for clarity the jumper trick will NOT work on all OBD1, it does NOT work on 94-5 LT1 cars but they are still OBD1.

Yeah was just making sure before I forked out the money for one. Car is not going anywhere since the icm is bad.
