vtec : you have a great running car and I will not take that from, but it's not common by any means to see something that fast with what you have. The intake, race weight, distributor & ecu swap I'm sure adds a lot to your combo working very well.

by your remark you make it seem as if all the others going after 8's for some time now do not have 1/2 decent setup cars

maybe I'm reading this wrong?
sorry, i wasnt trying to sound like a douche with that remark, but honestly, it should be good for 8's.

my raceweight is about 100lbs shy of this guy's. i dont turn my car more than 6500rpms, so the dizzy/ecu swap really doesnt add anything to my combo.

LS1 speed- your car would pick up nearly a full second on your 150 shot if you swapped converters. (and possibly gear) would put you in the low 9's. 200 shot would put you in the 8's as well.

like I said maybe I read it wrong, but it kinda sounded on the shitty side

maybe it's just me and if so I'm sorry

I just look at how many 8 sec LTx F-body or Ltx anything for that matter there are. There are not many as it's not as easy as you make it sound with anything IMO.

I know my car can go faster and have plans...

-tightening up the converter & removing lockup to save weight
-freshening trans ( 2-3 slips )+ some upgrades
-EFI Conn. 24x / Ls1 ECU conversion and SD tune
-adding a Nitrous Outlet progressive controller
-building a new 4" CAI with ram air to grill
-removing a little weight here and there

I think it can go into the 9.30 area with a 200-250 shot, but 8's I'm not too confident on. The goals I set are always low though, so we will see.

you've got 8's in the bag if you'll just do what you have in mind!! just to give you something to think about-

on motor a typical pass for me in the 1/8 is: 1.60 60' 7.30 94-95mph
a 175 shot pass is: 1.30 60' 6.10 111mph

if you dont do much highway driving, i would convert it to a th400 and get a converter from greg at FTI. run a 3.73-3.90ish gear with 28" tire.

I do drive this car around, to the track 1+ hr away and love cruising at 70mph. This is going to give up a little for me, but I think I should see big gains next season with my plans.

next step would be a carb style intake as I know the stocker is holding me back some now

in the end most have a combo that can get the job done with testing and tweaks is the way I look at things

Would be curious to hear how you cut .3 in 2 weeks with the same exact combo in your car. D/A was about the same. One weekend 11.8ish, and 2 weeks later, 11.55ish. 60's somewhat similar. Not to mention, this is the same engine that was mid 12's this summer minus the new converter. So all in all, since this summer you cut around 1 full second, with just the tuneup, and some new spark plugs? Not trying to get your panties in a bundle, just trying to learn here. I think the last time I was around your mill, it could use some timing. Did you find a way to add timing without the pesky knocksensors pulling it out, or did you give it a (diet) tuneup. I know at one time, you weighed it at my work, and you have been very honest about the weight of the vehicle. Ive got a really good idea what happened, just wondering if you do. Eitherway, well done fella, tell Phil its time for the SR cam........and if you need a guy to put a bar in that boat let me know, I have got just the guy to do it. A little pricey but, top notch work. Good Luck.........
