Default Header Horror Stories

Tell me about how your long tubes fit. Its time for an upgrade on my 97 Camaro. I really want Kooks, but holy expensive!!! I am thinking about Pacesetter black painted and then sending them to Jet Hot for a coating. I also need catalytic converters here in Georgia to stay emissions legal.

i had coated pacesetters LTs and they fit good. I got both of them up through the bottom of the car. If wasn't as tough as I thought, but I would say the hardest part is lining up the header with the gasket with the head. hardly any room but we got it done.

Hey:

Nothing beats stainless headers, except Inconnell, and that is real pricey.
321 stainless is real good thats why LPPs were so popular even if a few folks had fitment issues which were mostly due to worn motor mounts. Coated headers will burn off and rust. Go with ebay stainless pacesetters clones, before you buy a coated header. I have not read one intelligent post dissing them and the price is great. Just make sure they look just like the pacesetters and are 304 stainless. Do a search and you can find the exact ebay seller everyone has had good luck with. I think its eworld sales. Don't forget to do poly motor and tranny mounts while your in there. The stainless clones don't have very many problems except a few burnt plug wires(reroute and Protect) and the occasional steering rack interference. (Just slot and move) Also you may have to get a smaller oil filter and remove the oil cooler if you have not done so already.
Good Luck

Same here. Same headers.

It was a bitch getting all three to line up. I felt like getting studs instead but at the same time that reduces the space even more to maneuver.

Hey:

Don't forget to shield/wrap your plastic fuel lines anyplace they come near the exhaust with some form of alloy or foam heat shield to protect them or we will be reading about a new header horror story.

I had a lot of trouble with my first install.
One of the shittest parts was when I lifted the engine, got everything on, put everything back and was about to start her up when I realized I never put the gaskets on.

eworlds sales on Ebay or Summit. I used custom made alloy plate covers with the foam and fiber heat wraps where they fit best.

Ouch..

Gaskets are the biggest PITA then the occasionally header bolt coming loose and blowing a gasket. Um...spark plug wires also a PITA. don't go buy MSD's and then let them get burnt...
