Default newbie here, need advice

Hey guys, new guy here with my first GM car ever. Came from the blue oval so I have to learn the ins and outs of the SBC. I picked up a 95 Camaro M6. Was told its a rare option package, it has crank windows, hard top, no rear defrost, cloth interior. Wondering if that was true. My big question is my rebuild I want to do. Looking for a 383 setup and don't want to buy something that will hurt me. Going to keep the top end stock for now for budget reasons because I already spent most of my cash on a paint job and ZR-1's. So far I picked up a MSD opti, XE cam with all necessary hardware and 30# inj.

sounds like the strip model. what XE cam are you going with?

i got the strip model, im not sure theyre all that rare. uncommon but not rare.

Look at the option codes for "1LE."

Also, doing a 383 without the top end is a tremendous waste of money. If anything, go with having the heads ported first.

Can't comment on the rarity factor, as my car is the exact opposite.

But like RamAir just posted, don't waste your money on a 383 bottom end if you aren't going to do the heads at the same time... Find you self a good set of ported heads to go with that cam you bought. You'll make more power that way then if you were to build a 383 without heads.. Then when you can afford to build the bottom end a 383 you'll have a nice set of flowing heads for the top end and put down some good power then.
