shift kit?
my car breaks the tires loose to 55 when it shifts 2nd, then chirps third. trans go hd2 here and love it. Not to harsh at all part throttle cruising, but hits hard at wot. Could not imagine owning an a4 without one.
Both my A4's, in the Impala and in the pickup, have the HD2's (or the equivalent Transgo parts before it was labelled HD2). Both tranny's have given me better service than I ever expected, considering the hard use they get. The Impala has endured hundreds of 11 sec and 12 sec runs with hard launches in the 1.4 and 1.5 sec range, plus occasional roadracing, with nothing more than normal 2/4 band and 3/4 clutch wear (freshened when I swapped motors 2 months ago). The truck has towed 4000-6000 lb loads all over the eastern US and quite a few nitrous-assisted passes at the track, and is still going strong at 296,000 miles, never been opened, just fluid&filter changes every 50k.
And both vehicles shift and drive beautifully, like a performance oriented auto trans should. Nothing harsh at all at light/medium throttle settings.
sorry to hijack but a $78 kit really improves it that much ? ive never done anything performance orientated on an auto before so i dont know to much. if so tho i think i found my dads christmas present

Verdad Gallardo I found the boxed ones from Summit/Jegs/Thunder etc etc are typically on the cheap side. I wasn't impressed with the TransGo I first went with. I had a custom one built and it was a night and day difference. A lot better quality as well.

I got the HD2 kit from Summit, it did make a night and day difference.
I have the B&M Transpak installed with the hi-performance street level. It makes a huge and completely noticeable difference. Feels real close to shifting in a manual car. Much quicker, harder and solid. $76.99 on Jegs.

For the snap ring holding the servos in place, i just popped it out with a good flat screw driver.
Have anyone tried playing with the trans tables to affect shift firmness? Or hooked up the performance shift mode for the 4L60E. I have noticed a difference just with that button.

If you have any doubts about what version.....HD2, etc....to get, get it from Dana at Probuilt Automatics. Guaranteed to get the right parts, the instructions you'll get from him are second to none, and he's about the same as the other sources on price.
