Thanks man... its a lot work specially when you dont have access to a hoist. A mechanic buddy told me i couldnt do it from the ground or i would run into a prob and have to tow it to his shop so this feels freakin awesome to get it all done and on the ground to show him up haha. Whole process wasnt that hard its just time consuming and you learn alot of tricks along the way to make your life so much easier.

Got the plugs, wires, o2's, steering knuckle, starter, alternator, belt and dipstick tube back in. All thats left is grab some zip ties and make sure the wires are well clear of the header tubes and then start it up with open headers

i just recently got my headers in too its nice to be done with that haha, now im working on the rest of the exhaust. What do you do with your o2 wires? is there any good spot to attach them so they wont slap into the headers? jw cuase i gotta get mine a little more secure jw if you took care of yours yet and how you did it.

Drivers side i zip tied down on the master/slave cylinder lines off the tranny which worked out well and the passenger side i snuck up around the starter to keep of the header and drilled a hole into the heatshield to secure it further down.

I did not have to remove the steering linkage nor jack up the motor.

I didn't have to remove the steering linkage but did have to jack up the motor. I had some problems with the passenger side header as under high RPM's and shifting it would be hitting something. I forgot what exact part it was hitting but just had to grind a little and its fine now. I hope you replaced your header gaskets with something more durable. I'm having gasket problems right now and its a bitch.

Well after a couple weeks i havent updated the thread but ive got everything in and running. Runs great no misses or burnt wires everything is zip tied off and looks great. Only one problem i started the car and let it run for like a min shut it off checked everything as it was smoking but its all the way up the headers so its only oil or grease burning off from the install. I started it again let it run for about 10 mins or so and took it around the block for a spin with the open headers! Happy as can be and didnt seem to have any leaks which was great. I went out a week later to work on it so i figured now is a good time to tighten the header bolts up a bit so i did. Started it up and checked for leaks and can feel heat over all the primarys above the flange. I cant exactly say i can hear a ticking or engine noise cause its still open headers till i get it to my exhaust shop in the spring to get the a catted y pipe made up so its too loud to know for sure. I did try and tighten the bolts while running to see if that helped the issue and i think it might have but not sure. Points are leading to a header leak but wont know until the exhaust is re connected but at that point it will be a bitch to pull the y pipe off to change the gaskets.

What do you think?

I used Percy's seal for good gaskets, and had no leaks.

I tightened them from center to the ends outwards and they sealed perfectly first go.

What gaskets did you use?

I used the mr gasket coppers which i always here good things about. I tightened them going from bolts 2-5 then 1-6 then 3-4 in that order on each side. Could i pull back the header and retighten the headers back down going from the middle out vs the way i did it and seal or do i need a new gasket which i should probubly just to be safe. Kind of a bitch after getting this far then have to pull them off to put the new gasket in. I also highly doubt the flange is warped cause you only feel it on certain tubes correct? So either i didnt tighten them correctly, bad gasket set, or didnt clean the surface enough

If they are reusable then you can open up and tighten the bolts back again.

Are you sure its not the headers just tapping on something? Have a closer look at the steering linkage, they also tend to hit the transmission bellhousing.

Like i said its not making any noises that i can really hear as its open headers and loud but im worried cause i feel heat on top of the header flange coming out that i have a leak. I did notice at one time that there was a significant leak and was visible to see the exhaust putting out which i tighened up and went away immediatly. Is that normal to feel heat or similar to a leak coming from the header flange? I just dont want to put the y pipe of then have to pull it off and replace the gaskets. Im going to try your way of tightening and see if that helps and would hope that the gaskets are still fine just didnt know if i could resuse them if they werent burnt up. Drivers is a cake walk put the passenger side is a bitch to do lol.

If you feel heat blowing out over the flanges, then yes it is leaking slightly.

Just loosen up the bolts and re-torque them from inside to out, its like flushing the flange flat. There must be a sequence diagram somewhere on Shoebox's website.
