Unless they've changed them, the GM guideplates are not hardened.

I found this info out the hard way

Go with the trickflow guideplates, they are much better quality and way cheaper too.

Do you know if they're hardened or not. It's my understanding GM made both hardened and non hardened.

I have Trickflows now and they don't align the rockers up straight. One rocker is always cockeyed. I was told GM would do a better job at keeping them aligned.

Make sure that the guideplate is centered on the rocker stud before tightening it down. The hole in the TFs is a bit larger than the stud shaft, so you need to make sure it is centered.

After doing this with my TFs, they aligned just fine.

Great tip! Thanks, I'll try this before replacing them then.

Speedinc had to modify my Trick flows to fit perfect. Not sure exactly what they did, but they fit great now!

^^^Yep. My rockers align fine too, just took a few extra min to get them set just right. Honestly they align better now than they did with GM guideplates...plus my pushrods aren't eating the Trickflows. lol

Some of the GM plates made it through without getting hardened (easy to test with a file). There is little point in making a guideplate that is not hardened.

I got my gm guide plates from summit for $3.12 a piece. After price matching them to gmpartsdirect. Came out to $24.96 total for them. That wasn't including the handling charge thing. But summit also has a 10% off coupon floating around that is good till next year sometime.

Also mine are hardened. I checked them before I stuck them on.

We have run the GM plates on many setups with no issues including my own car.

TFS has been another choice that seemed to line up well.
