Throttle cable broke?????? HELP!!!!

Throttle cable broke?????? HELP!!!! Ok here goes. been driving the car everyday, no problems. it was fine this morning. Then i leave work and the throttle is very hard to push and even when floored does not downshift. so thought it was trans.... well get to buddys house and then we messed with it and then all of sudden you press throttle no matter how far and nothing. doesnt rev, just a stiff, dead pedal. so trans is obviously ok. my question is where do i get a new throttle cable( or sometimes called accelerator cable)???? i tried napa and advanced auto parts and niether have it even listed and they cant get it. so where do i get one and whats the easiest way to replace it???? Need fixed asap, this is my daily driver. Car is 96 formula bird, auto.

Mine sticks at times too. Mine will open then just stick and not return. I tried to get one through the dealership I work at and they told me it was discontinued. I just ended up taking mine off and lubed it while moving the cable back and forth until it moves freely. I have done this twice over the last 3 years. Still working good as of now, but would like to know where to get a cable if the dealership can't get one.

i was able to buy one a few months back from GM parts direct. it was the non traction control one since i was deleting it anyways. shoebox website says the traction control one is discontinued. so just throw on the non TC one. might wanna hit up the dealership by you one more time with the part #'s below and see if it helps;.....

Check an earlier year thru the dealership. I had this same problem on a '97 earlier this year and it was discontinued also. I believe I purchased one for a '94 and the only difference was the '94 was about 1/4" longer, but it didn't affect the function of it at all.

Just went to put in the cable I bought from ebay today and its the wrong one. The one I bought was from the TC to the gas pedal. The one thats broken is from the TB to the TC. I was thinking bout just eliminating TC all together since these parts are SO hard to find but will I also be deleting my cruise control too? Since all the cables run through that one module it looks like it will be deleted.
