1996 LT1 Cooling System
Recently, the car started running hotter than before, but again, never touched the red. The radiator had a leak and was replaced and new coolant put in. The pump is fine, as I can see the liquid moving with the cap off. I brought the car into a local shop and they said the car was not overheating, as they put a thermo gun on it and said it was fine, running at or below 220 and the fans were kicking on correctly. They said it was not the thermostat because of the drop in temp when driving and that it was likely the sending unit, which was replaced.
After replacing the sending unit, the car would steadily climb up to 210 and then basically freeze at 210. When I was on open highway, it would go a little below, but not much and nowhere near where it was previously (~180). It was getting above 210 in traffic, but never to the red.
Got in the car again and Service Engine Light pops on. Thoughts...???
