Default Still chasing a vibration....

To start, I've had 2 different driveshafts, 2 different transmissions in the car... I've had my wheels straightened and I myself have balanced and checked the wheels 3 times. Im at a loss.

I have this odd vibration, its over 60-65 or so and it gets really really bad when I hit 80. The vibration is BAD when the car is in neutral (6speed), but it practically goes away when I put the car in gear and give it some throttle. I feel it in my butt (in the seat). Nothing in the steering wheel or in the brake pedal.

The rear end was just rebuild, everything is new except for the axles. The axles were straight as well.

I am just at a loss, I dont know WTF else to do. I seriously want this fixed.

I also replaced ALL 4 brakes about 2 years ago. My pads are at about 6-7mm in the front and 7mm in the rear. The rotors look fine. Hell, I was thinking of just doing the rears over again. FML

Could be a number of bushings really. LCAs, torque arm mount, panhard, etc. Any worn or jacked up bushing can cause vibrations.

I have BMR LCAs, they looked good. I actually noticed a small crack in the bottom of the Torque arm. Im in the process of saving up for a better one. Would that really give me a nasty vibration?

How could a poly mount give me so much vibration that it feels like my driveshaft is going to fly out of my car lol

just a thought, probably not gona help...but by chance were both of the driveshafts you tried stock steel driveshafts? If so, might want to give an aluminum driveshaft out of a ls1 a try...

Maybe you missed it, but I suggested you have your wheels re-balanced.

You mentioned your torque arm has a small crack in it. Is it the stock unit or an aftermarket adjustable one? Either way I would double check the pinion angle. If you are running the stock unit and it is cracked it could be possible it is tweaked and pinion angle could be off.

You said you have a new/rebuilt transmission, did they replace the tail housing bushing? When I had my T56 rebuilt by Tick the rear bushing was an option and I wanted it changed because I was also looking for a mysterious vibration.

one transmission is the stock one... other one was "rebuilt"... it was an ebay unit for my old 6speed firebird.

its a stock Torque arm also. I have that no walk bushing from rockland, if thats what you are talking about.

I literally JUST rebalanced my wheels today, I checked them myself, no runout, no wobble on the machine, nothing. 2 new tires in the rear, vibration is the same
