temp. question??

Default temp. question??

this might be a dumb question but i am a noob,so here goes:

i've had this car ('95 Z28) for a year. Decided to change the opti., water pump, plugs and wires. it was a PITA but i did it. Also added a trickflow elbow and airfoil while i was at it. AC delco opti. and WP, Taylor 8mm wires and Ngk plugs. When I'm driving it the temp gauge readsits about 200 or one needle below have. Then I step on it and the temp goes down 20 degrees. It is full of coolant (vaccuum filled) and the thermostat is 180 (its new, came w/ the WP). Whats the deal? is it the thermostat?

NO QUESTION IS A DUMB QUESTION

What your describing seems pretty normal to me, its what my car does as well .

its happening because the water is spinning fast since its driven off the timing set and thus circulting the water faster through-out the cooling system and cooling the motor down so yeah to me i think im right lol

someone correct me if im wrong

The old thermostat was a 195 degree that might explain why it didn't go down under spirited driving. Thanks for the feedback!

get 160 stat car will run cooler more often. i love mine car used to run 210 now 180.

Thanks. Right now it is FREEZING COLD so i'll wait a bit on the thermostat.

sounds normal. Its gonna heat up sitting still. Theres no airflow going to the radiator and the waterpump is spinning slower. Once you move theres more airflow and the waterpump is spinning faster.
