valvetrain issue

Default valvetrain issue

I bought a crane 10308 valvespring kit with low miles from a guy on the forum and when I was putting together the heads I ran into an issue. The valve stem sits to far down inside the retainer hole and Im using the crane 7 degree locks. Heres a picture of the stock setup vs. the crane setup. Do you guys think the guy sent me the wrong retainers or am I missing something??

Whoa! That's why you never buy used springs! Those are for a different valve! When you start it, it will come off, drop the valve in the cylinder, and the locks will disappear down into your main bearings somewhere! I would return them, unless you switch valves or something?

can I just get the right retainer or do I have to get a new spring/retainer combo??

Not sure if you're using the right retainers/locks, but that doesn't look right at all. Assuming those are stock 11/32" diameter valve stems, the locks/retainers you need are Crane 99097 and 99951 (assuming those are 99893 springs).

I originally got just the springs and retainers and were told they were part of the crane 10308 kit. So I bought brand new the locks and the shims to complete the kit. And those valve stems are LT4 valve stems which should be 11/32"

looks like the retainer on the left is a 10 degree retainer and needs some Comp 611-16 locks to work properly.

hard to tell from the pic but that is what it seems to be.
