Default A/C delete mod

I have a 97 T/A and my compressor pulley was smoking and the bearing looked to be shot. I was wondering what parts do I need to order for this so called A/C delete mod.

My car is a weekend toy so I dont mind giving up the A/C. Thanks in advance guys!

All you need is the A/c delete pully. You should be able to get a quality one from napa or the gm dealer.

Have a few friends with this mod. They love it, but don't live in phoenix. YOU WILL DIE without a/c here in the summer. If i lived in a colder climate, I would do this in a second. Last time I checked central texas was pretty hot in the summer time. Have fun with that!

me and mike (Black94z28) just did this to my car. you will have to pull all the a/c lines obviously and it helps to pull the dash out to get to the heater core. and then you are going to need a piece of sheet metal to make a panel on the firewall. then I went on to ebay typed in LT1 A/C DELETE pulley and found one for $37 shipped

The Dash doesn't need to come out to get the Heater Core..just a couple of pieces down low.

You can get the panel from BMR. Here's a link to the page...

http://www.bmrfabrication.com/misc.HTM

Just scroll down the page. You can't miss it.

The only thing I have an advantage on compared to that one is that I still have the Heat. That and mine installs from the outside, the BMR one you have to completely remove the HVAC Box.

im doing this tomarrow..im removing the whole a/c system, heater, pass air bag, bumpers, door bars, carper, mat on fire wall, rear seats an belts, radio, speakers, atena, extra door metal,a.i.r,and swaping my whole exh to headers to bullets..

save your self the time and just go to lowes and get some sheet metal and sheers..pull panel,trace,cut..punch wholes and then run a bead of sealent and bolt in place..it will take all of 10 mins to make and do..a nail and a block of wood is a fast way to make your whole in the aluminum is your dont have a drill press..

You dont have to remove every single ac component, you can just remove the compressor and put in your bypass pulley (only buy the gm one, rest will break and destroy your motor prolly).

I still have my ac lines and stuff in the car, the compressor went in the trash. I left it like that for just in case I decide to go buy another compressor which I prolly wont. Oh and I live in atlanta and my car is a dd so I ride all summer without air, no big deal really.
