I have to replace my Walbro fuel pump after 20k. My question is can I put in a stock one with the baffles removed in the bucket, or do I need a new bucket?
My Walbro went out with only 20k. Do you think I should get another to replace this one with an oem or get another Walbro?
Did the pump overheat? My 225 Walbro/Racetronix pump went within 1,000 miles. I did some researching and apparently it's bad to store the car with a low amount of gas in the tank because moisture gets in there and burns it out, etc. etc. Could have been something like that which caused its death. Anyhow was it a 190 or 255 pump? If you need a 255 pump then you will have to stick with a Walbro or Racetronix/Walbro. If 190 is sufficient I would grab a stocker assuming it isn't too much more money.
I have half a tank of gas, It's the 255. I went to start the car and it was on for 3 sec that just died I did the hot wire mod and I get no pressure and can't hear the pump prime.

That's exactly what my car was doing when my pump went. Sounds to me like it got some moisture in there and burned out. I now store my car with around a full tank of gas to prevent this from happening to me again.
From Racetronix's website:
"Keeping the pump constantly immersed in gas within the bucket can extend the pump's life by not allowing it to be exposed to open air. Open air within the tank contains moisture and in time will cause the pump to rust / seize up especially if left to sit for long periods of time without the tank topped-up (i.e. winter storage)."
