Default replacing clutch

hey i have a 1995 firebird formula with the T56 6speed manual. i know these have a hydraulic clutch. i've been looking at clutch kits at summit and saw where there is a standard or hydraulic throwout bearing style. whats the difference? do we have to use the hydraulic throwout bearing??? the hydrauic bearing style was about $1,000 and the stardard was more around the $300-500 range. thanks for your help. I also looked at a kit from F1 racing and xtd clutches. any thoughts on those???

You need the standard as the hydraulic bearing did not come until the LS1 T56. Our's use a push/pull style where you have a hydraulic piston that pushes on the clutch fork and inturn pulls on the throwout bearing releasing the clutch.

Most clutch/pressure plate kits you buy will come with the new throwout bearing already installed.

If you want a really good deal on a clutch kit for stock replacement autosone has the cheapest one online. It's a LuKe clutch kit for like $160. It worked on my car great. I believe it came with a valeo clutch disk as well.

Only problem with the advanceauto/autozone kits is they only have 4 springs instead of 5 like the factory does.

I just recently installed the Autozone clutch kit (Duralast brand I think). I also bought a reman steel flywheel from them too. After the core charge on the flywheel, I think I was in it a total of about $300 in parts all together (Lifetime warranty on the clutch too haha). Minus the fact that my master/slave cylinder blew the first time I pressed the clutch in (ended up replacing with new gm set) its been working great for me. No slip or chatter.
